THE DANVILLE # 1 PROJECT - EDMUNDS STREET

This project was referred to us from Habitat for Hu

manity. It did not fit there process so they recommended the couple call us and gave them our phone number.

The couple had three main concerns. One was a tree that had become overgrown and was beginning to damage their roof on the north side of the house. One concern was the threshold at the front door had begun to show some deterioration.
Another concern was the back stoop. The only railing they had was down one side of the steps. The older condition of the couple made it a bit unsave to step out and use the porch.
We had eight people show up for the project and they represented five of our churches; College Park, Hillcrest, Mt. Hermon, Liberty, and Ringgold. We met for prayer before starting and then divided into three groups and three assignments.
The threshold turned out to be more of a challenge that first thougth but those who worked on it were able to solve all the issues.
The stoop came together well. When we finished the gentleman was delighted and said he had no more fear of stepping out onto the stoop.
The tree trimming was a big challenge but those who cut and hauled the branches really worked hard. The ladies hauled away three trailers full of branches.
